Recipients of our Sept 3 Newsletter read all about our “Goodwill Giveaway” pilot program
We pretty much know it’s a tacky idea.
But we want to know — we need to know — how tacky?
Here's our poll collecting your votes
You can also leave your free-form comments there, so make yer voices heard! Remember, the fate of Goodwill Giveaway: The Sequel may well rest in your hands.
4/24/24: Inquiries, acknowledgments, etc. have finally slowed to near zero (remember, Wieners were selected from Newsletter Subscribers — only a tiny fraction of whom frequent these WBM boards). So I think we can officially call this first tranche a wrap. Thanks for playing! Will there be a Sequel? Time (and some other stuff) will tell...
General Notice: The return address PO Box is wrong. Long (embarrassing) story. Don’t waste a stamp 🫠
Wow!: Looks like some % of The Mainland US Goods have already dropped. Maybe we caught the USPS on a good week 🍒 PS: learned that sending an 8x10 flat cello package "by regular mail" from Hawaii means...IT GOES ON A F***ING BOAT! 😤, Uh....No Thanks to that.
Lately: Even as we speak, a decrepit USPS is busy mishandling, mangling, misdirecting, and misplacing the Giveaway goods, lord save us.
<—- Wieners will get (?) a parcel festooned with these. Ignore them at your peril; packaging is tighter than an SD rhythm section
1/31/24: Response Deadline for Round 2 drawing is Thursday, Feb 8, 11PM EST. I suspect some of my notification emails are gettig caught in Spam filters so please check your Junk/Spam folders
1/14/24: With the holidays over and most everyone now reunited with their email, contact with selected Newsletter subscribers begins later tonight (HST)! [Check your Junk/Spam folders too]. The mailing includes instructions for how to claim an item, with a response deadline of Friday, Jan 19, 11PM EST.
Those who reply as instructed before the deadline will receive a randomly selected item via USPS.
(If you receive a mailing and do NOT want an item, simply do nothing; another subscriber will be selected for contact after the deadline passes).
It's been a crazed few months since last I posted (Mar 28), a long story, but I excitedly decided to visit and see all the new posts contained herein only to find mine was the last? Is it possible I'm in some kind of temporal anomaly? Or? Please tell me y'all are still out there.
Y'all look fab in your WB finery! I'm gathering the unmitigated gall to publish a pic of my undeserving self(ie) in the WB Honolulu shirt I now hold dear. I lost a good friend in the Maui fires and I do so appreciate the uplifting flavor in the WBM back and forth. Thanks again, D-Mod. You do great service.
Very sharp...
I would love to receive an item... truly. Loving seeing all the posts! "The Lucky Ones!"
Love love love my gift ..🎁 Thank you 🌸
It's been a long wait, but last Wednesday morning I finally received my gift and I'm really proud to have received it. Thank you all !
I am in awe of the generosity of our dear leader , D-Mod ……
I am full of gratitude and happiness to think that a little piece of Our beloved W has come into our lives ,
A fan for over 50 years , his music is as much cherished now as it was when I first sat and listened to Can’t Buy A Thrill , maybe even more , I would have loved to have met him
just to tell him what a hero he was to me , but sadly it never happened .
D-Mod , Thank you 🫶
D-Mod,
Meeting the off-stage Walter Becker in 2016 was a great honor for me. Receiving the lovely rust-colored silk shirt with tiny, embroidered pineapples on it was beyond wonderful! I will treasure it always as a reminder of the gentleman who helped me when I was struggling in Sandi's office! Walter should be remembered not only for his musical talent, but also for his kindness. D-Mod, we've never met, but I will remember your kindness as well. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for sharing these treasures with us all.
One of your posts mentioned not reimbursing the postage, but I will pay it forward with a contribution to the American Cancer Society in Walter's name. Thank you yet again. What a lovely thing to do!

Weather appropriate ,indeed.
Much love.xx
Thank you D-Mod …

I don't seem to have received anything 😫 Do I need to open the pod doors ? Do USPS deliver to outer space 🤔
I want an item so badly!!! I really hope there’s a sequel. I struck out this time it seems.
Well as a guy I should be angry that my wife is wearing another guys shirt. However, on this occasion I will make an exeption . You look fabulous darling XXX
Looking mighty sharp there buddy!
Goods received in good order in Vancouver BC this afternoon, for which many thanks. The sweater will be worn around the house come wintertime, & the "Think Fast" tour hat may never leave my (bald) head. Thanks very much for both, and for the spirit of generosity in which they among others were given. Thanks again.
Big Weiner here. My goodwill is a keeper and will be selectively worn with love, appreciation and an earthly connection (Paia!) always. Peace and love always, T/Y.
Dear D,
I had such a good laugh over the “could be Italian” socks, I just about split laughing. Thank you 😂 I haven’t been active here in Walter Becker media forum because it seems like a place for actual musicians who know just how amazing Walt really was while I’m just a nut fan - though we’re all nut fans. I’m Dandom Slut from the yellow book days if anyone else is here too :) Thank you too for the black shirt - not his style I can see that but a lovely gift from his guitar tech ! Thank you for writing that out ! I couldn’t get the techs last name (your handwriting is horrendous, D !) but I’m enamored of the story because a guitar tech and your basic guitar god would have a special relationship, and I can see that in the shirt it was one of mutual respect, even if the shirt was picked up at a souvenir shop (it probably wasnt ?) - it’s a very classy shirt and of nice fabric, serious in nature, also elegant, but still comfy and smooth. Undoubtedly this is how we all see Walter and how I’ll always remember that silly dood. I never got to meet him but I swear, those socks are in good shape but very, very worn in the area only at the ankles where they chafed - D-MOD — YOU APPEAR TO HAVE INADVERTENTLY SENT ME HIS “LUCKY SOCKS”
I am completely honored by these unreal gifts- it’s a moment to not only hug him hard while looking for his dna, oh I know we’re icky lol, but to see my hero as human and at the same time absolutely real. I can’t begin to explain how precious this is for me.
xx sorry this was long, my initial thought was to mail this thank you on a paper plate (how tacky!) via usps, which I still might do. Many hugs and my happy memories of Walt and my life with his music, all in your direction too.
Finn :)
First and foremost, thank you D!
Anyway, how wonderfully cool is this jacket??? A bit on the big side for me (you can't tell until I lift my arms up, but the sleeves are seriously poofy), but I am thrilled to have such a unique piece of memorabilia!
(P.S. If it's not clear in the picture, it says "Steely Dan / Europe 1996 / I.T.B.")
